The Pen
The barrel and fittings are crafted in .925 sterling silver, while the cap combines sterling silver with modern woven carbon fibre — a deliberate pairing of contradictory materials, with the clean lines of the barrel evoking the industrial age. The 18 Kt gold nib is rhodium-plated and finely engraved with an "M", a reference both to the man and to the Morgan Library he founded. Filling is by piston mechanism, and each pen carries its individual edition number.
The Story
John Pierpont Morgan was among the most influential financiers of America's Gilded Age and an ardent collector and patron of the arts, a legacy embodied in the New York library he founded, which holds masterworks of art, literature, music and history from the medieval period onward.
Why This Pen
A Patron of Art edition rewards the collector who values material contrast and restraint over ornament — heavy sterling in the hand, industrial-age geometry in the design, and a nib that carries its dedication quietly.
