The Pen The barrel and cap are finished in deep black lacquer with multilayer platinum-plated inlays, their geometric interplay directly inspired by the Art Deco era in which Mann wrote his greatest works — and symbolising the complex relationships between the characters in Buddenbrooks. The platinum-plated clip is refined with an onyx-coloured zirconium stone, and the rhodium-plated 18K gold nib carries a filigree engraving of the Buddenbrooks House façade in Lübeck — Mann's birthplace and the setting that gave his masterpiece its soul.
The Story Thomas Mann (1875–1955) — Nobel Prize laureate and author of Buddenbrooks, The Magic Mountain, and Doctor Faustus — is regarded as one of the most significant novelists of the 20th century, whose sweeping chronicles of German bourgeois life brought him international acclaim and enduring literary immortality.
Why This Pen For the collector who appreciates design that speaks quietly but rewards close attention, this is a Writers Edition where the craftsmanship and the literary tribute are as inseparable as Mann's life and his work.
