Released in 2005 as part of Montblanc's distinguished Donation Pen series, this Special Edition honours Sir Georg Solti (1912–1997), widely regarded as one of the greatest opera conductors of the 20th century. Born György Solti in Budapest, he began his musical career as a pianist, making his first public appearance at just twelve years old. He became principal conductor of London's Royal Opera House, Covent Garden in 1961, was knighted by the Queen in 1972, and his acclaimed recording of Richard Wagner's Der Ring der Nibelungen remains a landmark moment in musical history.

The cap and barrel are crafted from jet-black precious resin with platinum-plated fittings. The clip is shaped to evoke the keys of a piano, honouring Solti's roots as a pianist, while the platinum-plated cap rings are designed to reflect the strings of a piano and the lines of blank sheet music. Solti's signature on the barrel is rendered in vivid red, a tribute to the hand-written annotations he was known to leave on musical scores in red wax pencil. The rhodium-plated 18K gold nib is finely engraved with a dove. The special presentation box includes a deck of bridge cards, reflecting one of Solti's greatest personal passions away from the concert hall. Sold out worldwide.

We have a 7-day money-back guarantee as well as free door-to-door courier service.
